Important Message
Underground experience tours will run until Sunday 2nd November 2014, after this date we will take a break for Santa’s Toy Mine and his Christmas magic until the New Year.

The Rhondda Heritage Park will be closed from Christmas day but will re-open Tuesday 20thJanuary 2015. Opening times for 2015 are Tuesday - Saturday 10:30am - 4:30pm. Please contact us in advance to arrange school and coach bookings.

The Visitor Centre including the cafe and gallery will remain open as usual, no admission charge; however there will be no access to other colliery buildings or the Energy Zone play area

We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused.


Our Underground Experience Tours are fully guided by ex-miner guides and take approximately 40 minutes. It is adviseable to book your tour prior to visit.

Don your safety helmet in the lamp room, ride ‘the cage’ to ‘pit bottom’ where you will ‘live the experience’ of life as a miner and hear from your guide about the hazards and tasks miners endured as part of their daily work.


Visitor Centre

On the surface visit the Visitor Centre where admission is free. Here you will find an indoor reconstruction of a period village street displaying the domestic and commercial life of the Valleys.



Level One - Art Gallery and Cafe

On the first floor you will find ‘Level One’ our Contemporary Art Gallery & Café with stunning views of the lower Rhondda Valleys  its a great place to relax over coffee, meet friends for lunch and enjoy the regularly changing programme of exhibitions, exclusive artworks, ceramics and jewellery.



Energy Zone

For younger visitors the excitement continues with a visit to the energy zone.

Jump! Spin! Swing! Climb!
Looking for somewhere to take the kids to burn off that bottled up energy then the Energy Zone at Rhondda Heritage Park is the prefect place to go. This safe and friendly environment is the perfect place to unwind and relax while the little ones explore all that is on offer.

A fully equipped safe place to play with swings, slide, Zip Wire, Sand pit and Toddlers play area. A bright outdoor play area for children up to 13yrs.

A living testament to the mining communities of the world famous Rhondda Valleys, Rhondda Heritage Park offers you a fascinating insight into the rich culture and character of the South Wales Valleys. Ex miners accompany will accompany your visitors on a 40 minute underground tour before exploring the indoor period village street that displays the domestic and commercial life of the Valleys. Additional facilities include a visitor centre, art gallery and café.  Ample coach parking is available on site. Group discounts offered.
